Reciting Surat Kahf on Friday

December 25, 2008 § 13 Comments

Seeing as Friday is here, I’d like to give you all a little reminder to read Surat Al-Kahf. This is an established Sunnah of the Prophet Sallalahualayhiwasallam and has many rewards.

“Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.”

(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249.]

The Scholars say this light is the light of guidance – Allah knows best.

And memorising the first ten verses of Surat Al-Kahf saves a person from the trial of Dajjal.

Abu Darda radi allahu anha reported that the Prophet Sallalahu alayhi wasallam said, ‘Whoever memorises the first ten verses of Surat Al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of Dajjal’

PS – Make dua for me – I have a horrible toothache and I just had my second extra Panadol. Sigh. I need to get two of my teeth extracted.

While you are sharing it, you should also share following hadith which is very important before assuming anything from Allah Almighty.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: Allah’s Apostle (peace_be_upon_him) said: Do you know who is poor? They (the Companions of the Prophet) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth. He (the Prophet) said: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire. Sahih Muslim: Book 31, Number 6251

That is no matter how much do we pray salat, read Quran Majeed,go to perform hajj several times or offer Tahajud.. if we have hurt someone or have misbehaved with others by using bad tone or doing Gheebah then Allah(SWT) is not going to accept our duas and prayers anyway because Allah Himself says that He can forgive sins which are directly related to Him but not those who were comitted by hurting others. This is why Allah says that He does not accept repentance of the person unless the person asks for apology from those who were hurt by him or her. Today we hear people complain that Allah does not accept duas, the main reason is that they do not care for others rights, hurt and abuse them yet they assume Allah would accept their duas because they are performing prayers and being religious.

May Allah(SWT) does not include us among the people who have been mentioned in above Hadith and give us enough wisdom that we don’t waste our good deeds due to our stupidity.Ameen

Jazak Allah for this post and always talk about human rights when you share some piece of advice by Allah(SWT) or His Prophet(S.A.W)
