The Last 10 Ten Days of Ramadaan
September 12, 2009 § 2 Comments
The Last ten days of Ramadaan are upon us and yet I feel a lot of Muslims don’t realise the extreme importance of these last ten days.
Allah subhanna wa ta’ala says in the Qurán in Surah Al-Baqarah :
‘Hasten towards good deeds..’
Ramadan on the whole is very beneficial and a month full of blessings, but these last ten days hold extra importance. Don’t forget to make duaa to Allah subhanna wa ta’ala that he makes you of those who are worshipping him on the night of Laylaltul Qadr for who knows what can happen to us in the blink of an eye.
`A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): “Upon entering into the last ten (of Ramadan), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would tighten his Izar (i.e. he stayed away from his wives in order to have more time for worship), spend the whole night awake (in Prayer), and wake up his family.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
She also said: “Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to exert more efforts (in worship) on the last ten than on other nights.” (Reported by Muslim)
In it is the night of Laylatul Qadr which is better than a thousand months:
The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months) (97:3)
RasoolAllah sallalahu alayhi wasallam said, “Whoever stands (in qiyam) in Laylatul Qadr [and it is facilitated for him] out of faith and expectation (of Allah’s reward), will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
The Prophet [SAWS] said: ‘Seek out Lailatul-Qadr in the (odd nights) of the last ten days of Ramadhan.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
Below are a few excellent articles on the topic of the Last ten Nights of Ramadaan, the Night of Power and what to do in it:
Don’t miss out on the oppurtunity to gain forgiveness and mercy from your Lord!
The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam said:
“When the last one-third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One descends towards the lower heaven and proclaims: Is there anyone supplicating to Me, so that I grant his supplication? Is there anyone begging of Me for anything so that and I grant him his wish? Is there anyone who seeks My forgiveness, so that I forgive him?”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
